　　The Festival is delighted to confirm that apart from Ms Marcella Stratton, Dr. Jane Norman and Mr. Bim Ajadi, Messrs Alessandro Merlini and Marco Fabio Fugeri from the Italian Ipposcampus Ciak group, Suqin and Mi Na, independent film makers from China will be attending the First HKIDFF.

Marcella Stratton, Director, Deaffest, United Kingdom

Marcella Stratton, Head of the UK’s only Deaf-led film and television festival, Deaffest, which celebrates the talents of Deaf filmmakers and media artists from all over the world. The festival is of national significance aiming to increase the interaction between Deaf and hearing filmmakers and audiences.

Marcella has organised a variety of fundraising events such as Deaf balls, Great Britain Deaf football team and socialising quiz nights. These skills and attributes were noticed which played an active part in her getting her the initial job as Deaffest Co-ordinator. She was promoted early May 2010 to Head of Deaffest and incorporates all her expertise into her role which she takes great pride in.

Being Deaf from birth she has an abundance of lifetime experiences and knowledge of the Deaf culture coming from four generations of Deaf family and plays an active part within the Deaf community. Discovering new cultures, travelling the world, meeting new faces, cooking and crafts are a few of Marcella’ interests.

Marcella is an enthusiastic and motivated individual, has a bubbly personality and always put others before herself.

Dr. Jane Norman, Director, World Deaf Cinema Festival (Gallaudet University), USA

Dr. Norman teaches Mass Communication, Images of Deaf People in Media, Public Relations and special topic courses related to the media. She brings a wealth of experience from the field as a teacher, video producer and international media consultant. She served as the keynote speaker at the International Deaf Film Festivals in Rochester, New York; Canada and Japan, and one of the invited speakers at the Berkeley Deaf Film Festival at the University of California, Berkeley's Pacific Archive.

Dr. Norman served as chair of the Arts program and producer for the Festival unit for Deaf Way in 1989 and the coordinator for the 2002 Deaf Way II Deaf Film Festival at Gallaudet University. Dr. Norman also served as Gallaudet University Academic Affairs Diversity Fellow during 2006-2007.

Dr. Norman is currently serving as the producer and director of the Gallaudet University WORLDEAF Cinema Festival. She is also the curator and project director for the planning of the Gallaudet University Museum.
